These beautiful souls are getting married this weekend, and I couldn’t be more excited or honored to be documenting their wedding weekend. It’s going to be a weekend filled with great: food, friends, dancing and love, a dream if you ask me. See you soon, Mollie and Charlie! xo
Ceremony: Flagstaff Amphitheater
I have so much love for these two. Their union is one that will change the world. This is not something I say lightly. They are amazing individuals but together they are truly exceptional. They love deeply and live compassionately. When you’re in their presence, they both go out of their way to make you feel special, valued and heard. They are love, and together they shine with the brightest light. Brooke’s sister explained the effect their union has on the world around them as a pebble being dropped into a pond and the waves it creates carry love and light into the world. It’s undeniable the power these two have together.
Brooke and Rob’s day was filled with peace, love and a collection of some of the most beautiful souls in all the land. Their ceremony was blessed by a fox that entered and held space through the beginning of the wedding rituals. The clouds billowed and danced above us as we sat at the top of the world at the Sunrise Amphitheater witnessing the beginning of this beautiful union. Their friends and family shared in their ceremony with a special song and sermon, and as Brooke and Rob kissed for the first time as husband and wife, lightening struck in the distance, a serge of energy connecting the earth and sky that seemed to originate from their embrace.
Following the ceremony, Brooke and Rob took some time to just be and take in their vows; protecting, honoring and preserving the sacredness of their union. This is the best thing a couple can do after their ceremony. It’s easy to get caught up in the schedule of the day and move on to the next event. I cannot recommend this enough to anyone getting married, even if it’s just for a few minutes.
The celebration continued at the Rembrandt Yard Art Gallery and everyone danced the night away… and when I say danced, I mean they really danced and to the best variety of music I’ve heard in a long time. We dined on delicious dishes and enjoyed desserts and treats made with love by their family and friends, with a grand finale of the mother-of-the-bride’s famous carrot cake.
This was truly a special wedding to document. I’m blessed to know these two and grateful for their friendship. My heart continues to overflow with the love and light I experienced on this most special of days. Without a doubt their love creates waves and connects the people around them. May we all create such waves.
Love and Light,
Lauren and Jake’s wedding was perfect. They planned a small town wedding with big city style and I loved every bit of it. Jake grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska 45 minutes from Nebraska City, Nebraska at the Lied Lodge and Arbor Day Farm where the wedding took place. The location was amazing, fruit trees, a rustic barn and a beautiful contemporary log cabin styled bed and breakfast.
Lauren and Jake decided to see each other before the wedding so we could take family formals as well as adventure around Nebraska City before the wedding. I love it when couples do this. It’s a very personal choice for sure. This gave us plenty of time for photography and allowed me to get Lauren and Jake to their reception to join their friends and family.
The wedding ceremony took place on the lawn of the Lied Lodge over a backdrop of beautiful trees. Their ceremony was very personal and included readings from Lauren’s mom and Jake’s sister. Following the readings Jake and Lauren wrote their own vows which they recited together. It was awesome. I love how they both smiled from ear to ear the whole time and their first kiss was the sweetest!
For the reception the guests walked along a walking path through tall trees and romantic bridges. At the end of the path they found a rustic and magical barn accented by Nebraska barbecue and a fantastic honky tonk band straight from Austin Texas called the Derailers
. The Derailers kept everyone dancing into the wee hours of the night. It was amazing! One of my favorite moments from the night was Lauren and Jake’s first dance. They danced a two step that had everyone smiling. The room was filled with love!
It was an absolute honor to photograph Lauren and Jake’s wedding. I was lucky to be able to bring one of my dear friends and one crazy-talented wedding photographer, Molly of Cedar House Photography, with me for this wedding. We had the best time!
Love and Light,
Mandy and Ben’s wedding was a dream! I got married in wine country in the Central Coast of California and I have a dear place in my heart for winery weddings. There’s something so magical about beginning a marriage in a place where fruit grows with great care and attention, is picked at the peak of the season, blended and used to create beautiful wines. Marriages are so much like fine wine, at the beginning it’s fresh and exciting and as time goes on it just gets better and better. So photographing a wedding at Meg’s Vineyard in Napa Valley really resonated with me. I don’t think Mandy and Ben could have found a more beautiful and intimate setting to begin their marriage.
Mandy and Ben wanted to do a “first look” which is always very special and personal. Doing a first look allows for time to stand still a little longer than usual and for your photographer to document candid moments without rushing to get everyone to the reception. We walked around Meg’s Vineyard grounds and took our time with their bridal portraits. Having adequate time for photos allows me to keep my couples relaxed and happy which is one of my biggest goals. Mandy and Ben’s family and friends met us to do their formal photos before the wedding began, so everyone was fresh and photo ready before growing tired of the warm summer weather.
One of my favorite memories of Mandy and Ben’s wedding was Many’s entrance to the ceremony in a vintage mustang that her father drove. This was a surprise to their friends and family and everyone cheered and got very excited. Their ceremony was so sweet and fun too, just like Mandy and Ben! They have a fun inside joke with their friends where they sneak a framed photo of Clint Eastwood into each other’s homes and parties… and yes this hilarious framed photo made an appearance in their ceremony. Mandy and Ben were completely surprised and shared the greatest laugh together. This was a great way to highlighted a very important element of Mandy and Ben’s relationship, their love of laughing together.
It was an honor to photograph Mandy and Ben’s wedding. I was smiling the whole day and I loved traveling to Napa too!
